Random Summertime Activities

Hold on mom, I'm on the phone...er...diaper sprayer :) Good thing it hasn't been used for it's actual purpose in a really long time! Silly girl.

Decorating rice krispie treats.

Berry picking with my helpers. Maysie picked about 2 dozen and Elise picked.......a really nice sun bleached cow bone :) In her defense, all of the ripe ones were out of her reach. They were really good and stayed right by me, which was good because we saw a rattlesnake! I made 10 half pints of blackberry jam with our pickings.

Pioneer Days at Lotus Park

Snowcones!

Bubbles! It was so windy that blowing wasn't really even necessary.

Because he's cute :) He usually comes in at night just long enough to eat his dinner and snuggle for a while, but I was working on the computer so he lay down in a cozy spot close to me. Such a good kitty.

Independence Day 2015

We started out our day on the Fourth with a pancake breakfast at church. The girls were super excited that they had made chocolate chip pancakes too! My mom and I spent the day before making Fourth of July shirts and banners. We had a Flag Raising Ceremony in our front yard, Maysie knows the Pledge of Allegiance by heart. Then we took some goodies to daddy and his crew at the fire station since he had to work this weekend. The girls played with the patriotic poppers we made. In the evening daddy met us over at Aunt Sharon and Uncle Randy's house for dinner and fireworks. The kids set up their own pretend restaurant, "The Hen House Cafe" and took orders for desserts and drinks. They put on their very own parade with only one minor injury when Maysie's wagon veered off the driveway and dumped her in the leaves. The fireworks were great and the desserts were amazing. It was nearly midnight when we finally got home and we were all exhausted! It was nice to have the kids go to bed without a fuss and stay in their room :) Oh, and I almost forgot we had a special batch of baby bunnies born this morning by first time mama Rose (seven in all!)

My Little Oasis

Our garden is doing pretty well this summer. We have kale, carrots, swiss chard, tomatillos, cantaloupe, grapes, peaches, apples, pears, figs, plums, chives, basil, oregano, rosemary, butternut squash, buttercup squash, yellow crookneck squash and zucchini, persian cucumbers, lemon cucumbers, yellow pear tomatoes, early girl tomatoes, green beans and strawberries; not to mention a fenced in patch of barley grass for the bunnies to take turns playing in.  I'm loving all of the flowers we grew this year! This top photo is from out of the master bathroom window, I like my view :)

Water Fun!

Playing at Henningsen Park with the family. Maysie loved paddling around in her life jacket, Elise did not trust it's buoyancy one bit. Brute liked his first swim in a life jacket as well. The water felt SO good! My poor dad is still on crutches for his broken foot so he did some photography from the picnic table.
