We finally made it out for our yearly camping trip. We were brave this year and went for 4 days and 3 nights up to Union Valley!! The weather was gorgeous for us! The girls did a great job of staying in their sleeping bags this year and Elise only woke up in the night in the pitch black darkness wondering where I was a few times. I gave her a little tiny flashlight to keep by her pillow and then she was happy. Brute was an awesome little camper and was so quiet at night sleeping with his girls. He stayed close to camp when he was afforded the privilege of getting of his leash and even alerted us to a bear one evening as we were sitting in the dark watching the meteor shower. He was off leash and and came right back when we called him off of whatever he was intently watching. After shining the flashlight out into the night we saw a good-sized black bear staring at us from about 75 yards off. It moseyed off in the direction it had come. Good dog!
We ate REALLY good!! Enjoyed lots of sunshine, took the girls out in the canoe for the first time. Mark caught some nice trout that tasted amazing, we got our fill of smores, and dirt, and did a little plinking and gun safety with the kids.
I honestly don't know if I'd go for 3 nights without the camping trailer, I guess I'm spoiled. We went though an economy pack of wipes just keeping enough of the dirt off the kids faces so we could recognize them :) It was great to have so much time to just be together!
Pre-camping readiness nap.
We love this little trailer! Someday when we have some extra cash, we'll give it more of the love it deserves. For those of you who don't know, Mark and I bought this little gem just before we got married 12 years ago so we would have a place to stay while we finished renovating the 1890's home we were going to be renting from family :) We lived in it for 7 months! What's even more interesting is that my parents did the same thing when they first got married and were building their first home. Same trailer make and model, same year!! Crazy huh?
Silly shot of Brute. Any guesses at what he was trying to say?
Plenty of dirt/sand for all!
Wet pants don't stay up very well.
This little turkey wore her life vest like a champ, but wouldn't go out in the water :)
We saw this beauty twice down by the water!
Early morning art session.
Biscuits, eggs with mushrooms, and sausage. We were only missing the gravy.
This is the only nap this poor child got the whole time. On our way back from shooting.
His efforts finally paid off on our last morning when he got up at dawn to take advantage of the prime fishing hours.
Elise was a little sad for the fishies and kept telling Mark he needed "find some water for them!" But she thought they tasted wonderful that night :)
Mark's phone takes old-fashioned looking pictures for some reason.
Practicing the basics with Maysie's .22. Don't you like our pinecone firing line?
Cleaning daddy's fish as he stood by to swat the gagillion meat bees trying to eat me! Elise thought it was pretty silly that the fish ate daddy's green playdough (Powerbait) :)
Leave it to this girl to discover that Brute's zip line was multipurpose :)
Every yummy restaurant she smells is "Double-Double" (In N Out) She's cute!
